WikiGreed, a wiki for consumers and workers

WikiGreed was created on 31 March 2020 by a group of consumer and workplace advocates inspired by the wide range of reactions by companies around the world to the COVID-19 pandemic. The basic premise was that while consumers have long memories, wikis have even longer memories.

Basic philosophy

This wiki was established based on these basic philosophical points:

  1. Consumers should make informed decisions about who they conduct business with and employees should make informed decisions about potential employers
  2. Consumers have a vested interest in how employers treat their employees and employees have a vested interested in how their employer treats the global community
  3. All claims should have accurate and reliable citations
  4. The best editorial decisions come from the wisdom of the group
  5. Praise is even more important than criticism
  6. All who support this philosophy and expectations of organizations have value to this project

As consumers and employees, these are our basic expectations of companies and organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic:

All organizations

  • Paid leave to attend to personal, family, or household needs related to the pandemic
  • Support for non-essential personnel working remotely
  • An understanding that productivity levels cannot be the same
  • Continued healthcare coverage
  • Not use the pandemic for profiteering

The WikiGreed logo was created by Varnent with input from wiser people. It uses the Currency sign.svg and Font Awesome 5 regular meh.svg files on Wikimedia Commons. The WikiGreed workmark uses the Linux Libertine font.

The eyes represent the international symbol for currency and the facial expression reflects how seriously we take opposing harmful greed.
